What is Typing speed test?
Typing Speed Test — Analyze typing speed with the standard words-per-minute formula — paste a text sample and your WPM to get word counts and how long the text takes to type.
Analysis uses the standard words-per-minute formula from the vendored typing-speed-test engine (silentviewer807): WPM = (characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. The tool counts your sample’s words and characters (spaces included, matching the engine’s "every typed char" convention), converts characters to standard 5-character words, and divides by your WPM to estimate typing time. Honest limit: this is NOT a live keystroke test — accuracy in the engine is correctChars ÷ typedChars × 100, which requires tracking each keystroke as you type. A paste-and-analyze page cannot measure it, so no accuracy score is given.

How to use Typing Speed Test
- 1Paste the text you typed (or plan to type) into the "Text sample" box.
- 2Enter your typing speed in the "Your typing speed (WPM)" field — use a number from a real typing test if you have one.
- 3Run the tool to get the word count, character count, and how long the sample takes at your speed.
- 4Read the accuracy note: accuracy can only be measured while you type, so this page estimates time — it does not score keystrokes.
- 5Compare samples of different lengths to see how typing time scales with your WPM.

Good to know
- This is an analyzer, not a live keystroke test: it cannot watch you type and therefore gives no accuracy score.
- WPM uses the standard 5-characters-per-word convention from the engine; live tests may define words slightly differently.
- The time estimate assumes you type the whole sample at a constant speed with no pauses or corrections.
How it works
